This painting by Matisse is unusual, he used a numerous amount of colors. He uses bold colors. The colors are vivid and very expressive. I feel like these colors expressed some certain types of emotions. Also the brush strokes are very loose and makes the painting looked unfinished. The woman, who was Amelia, Matisse's wife is wearing traditional French clothing.
