Paul Cezanne: Skulls and apples

I think I am an instant fan of this work because it has a skull. I think this work has 2 main elements of his usual paintings. At first we see the fruits and the white cloth but then the skull, which is the more upstanding part of the painting. I like how all the elements are very vibrant and stands out on their own. I also like the composition of the piece. It's interesting because in painting one can control where they want the light direction. However, for this piece I'm not sure where is light direction.
