Paul Cézanne has been said to be the "father of modern art" due to straying away from impressionism. Cézanne was able to successfully take foundations of impressionism being ,solid shapes and bold figures, and add new bright colors into his paintings, some of which do not even belong or make sense. This laid the foundation to what is known as modern art. Cezanne's technique can been seen in one of his more famous paintings called The Bathers, 1898 - 1905 which was perceived to be the piece that would pave the way for modern art.
