Matisse- The Woman in the Hat
I would like to point out that Fauvism is one of my favorite art movements thus far. I chose this piece because of its vibrancy. It is colorful and beautiful. This painting seems to be lifelike through its colors. I also like the fact that its not too clean and smooth. I like the rough edgy look of the piece and the fact that he uses such variety of colors. In my research it say that he was heavily influenced by African culture and this is very evident. In the African culture their dress and clothing are often vibrant color of different shapes and that was my first impression on this piece. Her hat is also very prominent and almost look like the way African women would wrap their heads.
