Paul Cezzane was a French artist, specifically the preeminent of the Post-Impressionist era. He led the post impressionist movement and is referred to as the Father of Modern Art. He was influenced by impressionism. Although he was influenced by Impression, he took it to a whole new level.
Cézanne believed painting needed more structure and could be more analytical. Cezzane had a different structure in his painting and he used very bold colors. The vibrant colors he used made the painting stand out and grab peoples attention. Cezzane perceived the shapes of objects in his painting in a different form, giving it a different appearance but overall made the painting flow. He made every part of the painting contribute to the overall piece of artwork. His brush strokes were always small and methodical. His painting did not reflect reality, they mostly reflected emotions and feelings. He became influential on later painters such as the Cubists. The mastery of design, tone, composition and color that spans his life's work is highly characteristic and now recognizable around the world. Both Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso were greatly influenced by Cézanne.
